This letter concerns Juliana Machado, CNA, who provided caregiving services for my mother, Giohra “Julie” Howard, starting on June 22, 2019 until she died on November 11, 2021 at 91 years of age. At times, Juliana worked 12-hour shifts, 5 days a week. At other times, she filled in and worked part time. During the last 6 months of my mother’s life, Juliana was with my mother 5 to 6 days a week, providing exceptional private care at an assisted living facility where my mother lived during the last part of her life. My mother had Lewy Body Dementia and several other conditions. She also had an ostomy bag that needed to be emptied and changed.

Juliana was exceptional in every way. She proved to be a very hard worker consistently going above and beyond, taking advantage of any downtime regarding my mother’s personal care to provide companion care, extra cleaning, organizing and more. Juliana trained for and handled my mother’s ostomy care perfectly. She also checked her blood sugar and blood pressure daily as I asked and logged the numbers and other details about my mother’s daily activities and well-being. Juliana was a tremendous help to my mother, and me as a care coordinator. In addition, she was wonderfully patient, kind and compassionate.

I cannot express enough positive words about Juliana’s work ethic, knowledge, skill, diligence, positive and caring attitude, and overall abilities as a caregiver who gives her all and exceeds all expectations. In caring for both my parents since September 2016, I worked with dozens of caregivers. Juliana Machado was by far the very best caregiver I had the pleasure of working with.
